The country’s National Parks Service is celebrating its 99th year and is offering free admissions to all 408 national parks across the country. This occasion opens up more reasons to visit iconic parks and such as the Grand Canyon and Yosemite as well as world-renowned ski vacation destinations that are a must-see for snow sports enthusiasts.
Here some of the US National Parks in Alaska that you might not have heard of yet:
Gates of the Arctic National Park - This is one of the few national parks located in a remote, roadless area in Alaska. The northernmost park in the United States. Records suggest that only a few thousand tourists this 8.4 million acres of wilderness each year making it a perfect area for wildlife viewing. It is home to mighty brown bears, giant moose, curious fox, and tiny fishes called sticklebacks. Other wild animals like caribou, wolf, river otter, snowshoe hare, sea lions, porpoise as well as sea otters also live in Katmai National Park.
Lake Clark National Park System – Vacationers wanting to see some of the finest scenery will never regret spending their holidays at Lake Clark National Park. The must-see destination located 100 miles southwest of Anchorage features a breathtaking array of mountains, thundering waterfalls, waved washed coastlines and calm lakes as well as glaciers.
